Tropfest NZ 2014 Campaign

tropfest_Logo_square“Tui Ruwhiu (Wave Communications) was contracted as publicist to Tropfest NZ 2014. Tui excelled in his role as publicist and exceeded the expectations and goals Tropfest NZ had. He delivered a thoroughly professional service and his experience, networks, lateral thinking abilities, and his writing skills greatly benefited Tropfest NZ 2014. I have no hesitation in recommending Tui for a similar role in the future. I have every confidence he will deliver within budget, on time and above expectation.”
Lisa McMullan
Marketing and Communications Manager Tropfest NZ/TAFT

Wave was brought onto Tropfest NZ 2014 some time after scheduled marketing communications had gotten underway.

One key element of the publicity strategy was to reach out to emerging digital filmmakers through a print magazine that has a strong online presence and specifically targets this audience. This was achieved through a series of articles on the winners from the previous year and the production of their films.

Operating on a part-time basis, Wave was able to achieve significant regional and national coverage for the festival and associated event, including:

● TV3 Nightline
● Radio NZ Saturday with Kim Hill
● TVNZ Seven Sharp
● Maori Television Ata Marie
● Weekend Herald, Herald on Sunday
● Wanganui Chronicle, Taranaki Daily News, Auckland City Harbour News, Southland Times

Although not responsible for online and Social Media coverage, Wave’s publicity efforts garnered significant pickup in these areas.
