Auckland Film Studios (AFS) had gone through significant change following its 100 per cent acquisition by Auckland Council Investments Ltd and the creation of the Auckland Super City.
When Auckland Mayor Len Brown lead a business delegation to China in 2012, AFS approached Wave to create a brochure for the visit.
After receiving the brief for the project and considering the overall needs of the organisation, Wave responded with an expanded proposal for:
● a rebrand
● a dual language English/Chinese brochure
● a dual language English/Chinese electronic presentation
● a revamped website
Wave received the go-ahead for all four projects.
The redesigned brand for AFS reflects the commercial/industrial nature of the business with simple but striking use of design and colour to make it stand out.
The AFS brochure is small and compact, making it easy to carry or ship offshore, and for interested parties to take away with them. It utilises a unique reverse flip design, so that one way it can be read in English and the other way in Chinese.
Understanding that even a brochure of any size can end up in the rubbish bin and not the suitcase of potential customers who may have received it along with many others at a conference or exhibition, Wave created an HTML electronic presentation stored on a slim and lightweight AFS-branded USB stick.
The USB stick is adhered onto its own page within the brochure and easily removed and pocketed, making it an attractive standalone takeaway item should a recipient want to discard the brochure.
The content of the USB stick provides an overview of all aspects of Auckland Film Studios, and Auckland and New Zealand as a film destination. Links within the body copy of the presentation take readers to more detailed information on the AFS website and to others such as those of Film Auckland, the New Zealand Film Commission and Film New Zealand.
To revamp the AFS website, Wave placed great emphasis on utilizing visual imagery to tie in with the nature of the studios’ business–helping companies to create images.
We commissioned high quality photography of the site and buildings; the drawing of branded and downloadable PDFs of the key studios with associated floor plan, profile and photos; a simple but effective 3D-style clickable illustration of the full site and clean and simple layout and navigation.
Together with stunning ‘location’ images of Auckland and New Zealand, the Auckland Film Studios website is now highly visual, functional and effective as increased website statistics attest.
Once again, Wave’s extensive knowledge of film and TV production and the industry as well as its wide networks worked to the benefit of the client in the execution of these projects.
